VATIKAN, JP– Paus Fransiskus menahbiskan 9 orang imam baru, di Basilika Santo Petrus, Vatikan, Minggu (25/4/2021), sebagaimana dilansir dari Sahabatkatolik.com.
Ke-9 imam baru yang ditahbiskan pada hari minggu panggilan sedunia ke-58 tersebut berasal dari tiga seminari di Keuskupan Roma, yakni 6 imam dari Seminari Tinggi Kepausan Roma, 2 imam dari Seminari Tinggi Mater Redemptoris, dan 1 imam berasal dari Seminari Our Lady of Divine Love,
Menariknya, dua diantara 9 imam baru ini adalah mantan public figure. Yakni, Pastor Samuel Piermarini, yang sebelumnya adalah seorang pemain sepak bola. Ia sempat mendapat tawaran bermain bersama skuad muda AS.Roma tahun 2010 dan Pastor Ricardo Cendono, sebelumnya seorang sutradara. Salah satu filmnya adalah ‘Regroso a casa’. Film itu pernah tampil dalam festival film ischia edisi ke-11 tahun 2013.

Ia menegaskan, para imam ini akan berbagi dalam misi Kristus. “Semoga semuanya mencari kedekatan kepada Allah, melalui Uskup, sesama imam, dan umat Allah dalam pelayanan mereka masing-masing,” tandasnya.
Lanjut Bapa Suci, seorang Imam harus dekat dengan Allah. Menurutnya sangat penting bagi para rohaniwan agar tetap berada di dekat Allah dalam doa.
“Seorang imam yang tidak berdoa, secara perlahan dia akan memadamkan api Roh di dalam dirinya”, ujar Paus.
Bapa Suci menyerukan kepada para tertahbis untuk melihat diri mereka seorang kolaborator dengan Uskup mereka, agar dapat memastikan persatuan di Gereja, di mana mereka bertugas. Ia juga menekankan supaya mereka menghormati imam lain.
“Saya menyarankan kepada Anda, jangan pernah berbicara buruk tentang seorang Pastor, saudara anda. Jika anda memiliki sesuatu terhadap yang lain, jadilah seorang pria. Pergi ke sana, dan katakan padanya secara langsung. Tidak hanya kepada sesama gembala, paus juga mendorong agar membangun dan menjaga hubungan kepada umat,” tandasnya. (JPc)
